The Department of Cyber Society and Culture provides research and educational programs aimed at interdisciplinarily and comprehensively explaining how mass media/communications technology interact with societies, cultures, and human beings in the modern world of advanced information and communications.
Advanced mass media and communications technology affect human communication, thinking, and behavior, bringing about social and cultural changes. Human societies and cultures, in turn, define the nature of mass media and communications technology that are to be applied. The Department of Cyber Society and Culture identifies these various interactions by adopting a combination of the results and methods of related sciences, as well as cutting-edge media technologies. It is also committed to nurturing creative researchers who will pioneer new fields of comprehensive media research.
